Since 1801, this historic inn has been providing visitors
with timeless elegance and the finest comforts and amenities
in a quintessential Vermont setting. The Old Tavern at
Grafton is a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World.
The Old Tavern offers every amenity necessary for your
comfort, though, we have designed things so you don?t have
them in plain view. WiFi is wired, available, yet hidden.
TVs are located throughout the inn (though not in your
room). Phones are tucked quietly in each room. A cell tower
is hidden in one of the chimneys.
The reason for this is simple: people come to Grafton and
The Old Tavern to find what might be the two rarest
commodities in today's unsettled world: peace and quiet. You
may spend your time here relaxing in a world that is
untroubled and calm, walking through woods marked by stone
walls, reading without disturbance, going on a bike ride,
canoeing down a tree-lined river or just rocking on the
porch with friends - old and new.
Antique furnishings are found throughout The Old Tavern and
they contribute to their substantial charm; each room is
different, uniquely appointed to create a distinct
personality.
The award-winning Old Tavern restaurant offers
locally-inspired American cuisine and is open daily for
breakfast and dinner. Chef David Smith and his staff create
seasonal menus using local ingredients, including heirloom
vegetables from the large, organic kitchen garden. The wine
list is one of the most extensive in the area. Daniels Caf?
located adjacent to the Inn, offers light lunch fare.
Members of the Vermont Fresh Network. Regularly scheduled
specialty dinners like Localvore Nights and monthly brunches
are highlights to the restaurant.
Onsite amenities include outdoor tennis courts, raised
paddle tennis court, fitness center, massage services,
wireless internet service, swim pond (seasonal) and the best
porch rockers in Vermont. Grafton Ponds Recreation Center
offers year-round activities, which are free for Inn guests.
In the summer, the Center offers more than 2,000 acres of
mountain biking and hiking. In the winter, it offers 30
kilometers of Nordic skiing (with snowmaking on select
trails), snowshoeing, ice skating and a 600-foot snow tubing
hill. The inn also offers a frequent guest program entitled
?Going Native.?
