Kona Village lies within the site of an ancient Hawaiian
fishing village on 82 private acres at Kahuwai Bay along the
Big Island?s Kohala Coast. Established in 1965, the resort
is home to 125 thatched-roof bungalows called hale (ha-lay).
Each is reflective of Polynesian architectural styles.
Nestled around lush lagoons and pristine white and black
sand beaches, guests enjoy vacation fun from water sports
(snorkeling, diving, kayaking, deep sea fishing and more) to
cultural and historical exploration within resort grounds.
Kona Village Resort?s 82 oceanfront acres boasts three
distinct geological zones we call ?Sand,? ?Lava,? and
?Lagoon.? Within each zone is a variety of the unique,
individual thatched roof bungalows, locally called hale
(ha-lay). Each is cooled by tropical trade winds and
interior ceiling fans, is generously sized and includes
thoughtful in-room amenities. A coconut placed outside your
door is the Hawaiian-style way of saying ?Do Not Disturb.?
The serenity and keen sense of place at Kona Village is
achieved in part by our lack of radios, telephones and
televisions. And the variety of Polynesian architectural
styles found throughout the resort means there is a hale in
this special place awaiting you.
The hale categories are differentiated by location and view.
The categories begin with a Standard hale that has garden
views and run up to the Royal category located on the
oceanfront. The accommodation rates include three island
inspired meals per person per day.
